bend

We live only a couple of hours away from Bend and have family here, so this is a place we visit often.  Most of the time, we go for a weekend trip, but we will sometimes spend a full week exploring here.  This is an awesome place to visit for all sorts of adventure, great food, luxury accommodations, and fun shops.  Summer and Winter are our favorite times to visit.  It is a great place to travel with your dogs too!  Only a couple of the photos featured here are using Tyler's professional camera.

Oregon, USA

SEE/ DO

Winter

  • Ski Mt. Bachelor

  • Hike/ Snowshoe/ XC Ski to Tumalo Falls

  • Wanoga Snow Park for off-leash playing in the snow.  Also great for snowshoeing/ XC skiing

  • Snowmobiling tour

Summer

  • Paulina Plunge (Guided mountain biking adventure to waterfalls and natural waterslides)

  • Deschutes River float

  • Sun Country River Rafting Tour

  • Paddle in any nearby lakes!  We love Diablo Lake and Hosmer Lake.

  • Bike along the river path

Anytime

  • Smith Rock State Park (lower trail along the river is great with the dogs; Misery Ridge Trail is a great workout for the humans with mod difficulty; harder when it is hot)

  • Downtown shops + eateries

  • Old Mill District shops

  • Drake Park

  • Pine Nursery Dog Park (The best dog park we've ever been to with trails that lead to an open field)

Daytrips

  • Crater Lake National Park

  • Sisters, Oregon

  • Painted Hills

EAT

  • Ariana (our favorite high-quality foodie dinner in Bend for a nice occasion-requires a reservation well in advance)

  • Jackson's Corner for breakfast, lunch, coffee and treats

  • Lemon Tree for breakfast

  • Sparrow Bakery (they are known for their Ocean Roll, which is a cardamom roll)

  • Zydeco (they have complimentary homemade peanut butter dog biscuits to take home that our dogs LOVE!)

  • Rancher Butcher Chef

  • LadyBird Cultural Society

  • Food Truck Pods - they have many of these and they are great!

STAY

  • Sunriver Resort (We like staying here when we are planning to ski Bachelor, as it is close.  This is THE vacation spot for families in Oregon in the Summer, as there is a lot to do there and it is beautiful.  We love the bike paths here.  Keep in mind that it is 20 mins from Bend, so only stay here if you want to do most of your activities near here)

  • Airbnbs - most of the time we stay, we pick an airbnb that is near the things we are wanting to do.  There are Airbnbs within Sunriver as well.

  • Brasada Ranch

  • Tetherow Resort

  • Hotel Oxford

Tips

  • There is an airport in Redmond if you want to fly here

  • There are tons of equipment/ adventure rental companies if you don't have gear or don't want to lug your own

  • Consider planning your itinerary before choosing accommodations, as not everything is close

  • Carry chains in your car if you are traveling here in the Winter, as there are times when chains are required to go over the passes
