We did a day trip to this epic adventure spot while visiting Vancouver, CA on our 1 year anniversary trip in the Summer.  We knew we had to come back to ski, so we roadtripped in Winter of 2022 with dogs and ski gear in tow!  Due to the amount of stuff we packed, Tyler opted not to bring his professional camera gear, so photos from this trip are all from our iPhones.

SEE/ DO

  • Enjoy the views of the Sea to Sky Corridor on a clear day (the road between Vancouver and Whistler)

  • Stroll the Whistler Village/ shops

  • Ski Whistler Blackcomb!

  • Whistler Valley Trail (off leash dog walk)

  • Afterglow at Whistler Olympic Plaza (music and lights)

  • Zip Trek Zip Line Tour

  • Brandywine Falls (can park at the gate in the winter and trek through the snow to get there)

EAT

  • Araxi (swanky Farm to Table and Oysters)

  • Quattro (upscale Italian)

  • Barefoot Bistro (PNW fine dining)

  • Pure Bread Bakery

  • Westin Restaurant for breakfast

  • Fairmount Wildflower breakfast buffet

  • Make reservations ahead of time for dinner if you want to eat at the popular restaurants!

STAY

  • We didn't realize that the Airbnb we booked was actually a condo within the Westin Hotel.  It was dog friendly and had a ski valet, which was great!

  • We were limited by having animals, but there are many nice resorts and cool Airbnbs to choose from there.

Tips

  • Skiing - You will want more than one day to explore this mountain.  We barely touched it in 2 days.  Consider using the ski valet to store your gear and prevent lugging and storing it every day.  Consider taking the gondola up and just use the upper lifts until the end of the day.  The peak to peak lift is fun too.  We definitely felt the quads burning on the last run down, as it is a long ways, so leave some energy for that!

  • The golf course was a good place to let the dogs run around in the winter without having to go to far.

  • Zip Trek Zipline Tour - We recommend doing one of the tours earlier in the day and dress warmer than you would even for skiing.

  • The drive from Oregon to Canada wasn't bad until we got to the border.  We were stopped for 1.5 hours.  Try to avoid holiday traffic (We traveled on 12/26).  We probably won't do the drive again, but we needed to in order to bring the pups.
